SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE

1. Ephesians 4:15 - Speak the truth in love
Colossians 4:6

A. What is speaking the truth in love to your spouse?
B. Is it hard for you to speak the truth in love to your spouse?

2. Ephesians 4:25 - Putting away lying- Speak every man truth.
Psalm 120:2-3; Prov. 6:17.

How hard is it for you not to tell a little “white lie: in order to keep peace with your spouse? Which is easier for you- tell your spouse the truth- or smooth over a situation and not tell your spouse all the truth?

3. Matthew 12:34 - Out of the abundance of the heart- the mouth speaketh.
James 4:11; 1st Peter 3:10

Do you always speak all your mind to your spouse? Should you always speak all your mind to your spouse? What is evil speaking concerning your spouse?

4. Matthew 12:36 - Every idle word- give account

Do you pray about what you should say to your spouse and timing? Knowing that you will give an account in the day of judgment does that affect the way you talk to your spouse?

5. Proverbs 18:21- Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Psalm 139:4

Do you realize that what you say is of eternal importance and is being recorded?

6. James 3:2-13 - Tongue

A. vs. 5- Little member boasteth great things
B. vs. 6- A fire- a world of iniquity- defileth the whole body.
C. vs. 8- No man tame- unruly evil- full of deadly poison
D. vs. 9- Bless God- curse men

Who can tame your tongue? What do you need to do in order for your tongue to be tamed?
