Mind – understanding,
intellectual faculty, mode of thinking, thoughts, feelings, purpose,
desires
1. lst Corinthians 1:10 – be perfectly
joined together in the same mind
(II Corinthians 13:11)
Perfectly joined together means to complete, to fit
or frame for one’s
self, sound union, bring into completion. If Paul was making this statement
to a church with many members, then certainly it is not impossible
for this to be
developed in a husband –wife relationship.
2. Philippians 4:2 – be of the same mind in the Lord
The
word Lord means – he to whom a person or thing
belongs, master, owner, one who has control of the person.
The husband and wife need to be
of one mind in their belief in the Lord Jesus Christ
and
his Word.
3. Philippians 1:27 – one spirit, with one mind striving
together for the faith of the gospel
Striving together means – laboring together. The husband
and wife work together in their marriage for the faith (belief)
of the
gospel (good news
of Jesus Christ). Thus, they should know and pray for wisdom to know
their spiritual gifts that God has given to them for such a
cause.
4. Romans 15:5 – 6 – be likeminded one toward another…one
mind and one mouth glorify God. (Romans 12:16; Ist Peter 4:1-2)
The husband and wife should have the same mind of compassion, forgiveness,
humility, worship and praise of the Heavenly Father that Jesus gave to us as
an example while here on earth. That mind was always for others first and to
do the will of God at all times.
5. Philippians 2:1-8 – be likeminded, having the same
love, being of one accord, of one mind. (Ist Peter 3:8)
Being in one accord is being united in love together as one. Lowliness of
mind is true humility in placing the other one first in position before self.
6. Romans 12:2 - be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind
Staying in true one – mindedness requires a continual
renewing together for growth.
